Our mission is to enhance CA2DM’s global impact. Through our venturing efforts, we create viable go-to-market routes for translating research and discoveries into products, processes, and services to benefit society.

Our vision is to enhance the emergence of science-based business cases, accelerate the collaboration between CA2DM researchers, entrepreneurs and corporate partners, and transform more of CA2DM research into market-ready inventions. Capitalizing on a rich environment within NUS and leveraging both the Singapore and global advanced materials ecosystems, CA2DM works actively to be recognized as a leader in innovation and entrepreneurship.

We accomplish these goals through three main roads:

Direct Spin-Offing Venture Building Entrepreneurial Support
Academic spin-offs are start-up
companies that are founded by
a scientific inventor or a joint
academic team and a variety of
market players, from entrepreneurs
to corporates. CA2DM supports the
processes of science commercialization
from the flow of research outputs
and personnel from the lab to the
emergence of spin-offs. CA2DM
has already spun out two companies
(2DM, Graphene Watts) and
currently boasts a solid pipeline
of six future ventures
CA2DM partners with local
accelerators and global venture
studios in order to align science,
IP, legal and business strategies
using high cross-skill. As such,
we have a privileged relationship
with AM2, the first Singapore-based
venture studio that creates and
strengthens science-startup
projects in the advanced materials
and advanced manufacturing fields.
Singapore is acknowledged
as a global leader in the
advanced materials research
fields. The country has built
a dynamic startup ecosystem
which will mature over the
next decade, embracing its
role of regional tech beacon.
Through mentoring and hands-on
entrepreneurial support to the
ecosystem, we strive to smooth
technology transfer processes and
energize frontier tech strategies
in our fields, every time we can.
