Professor Antonio H. Castro Neto Delivers Inspiring Seminar at KAUST
On October 24, 2024, Professor Antonio H. Castro Neto, our Director and Distinguished Professor at the National University of Singapore’s Departments of Materials Science and Engineering and Physics, delivered an impactful seminar at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Hosted as part of the PSE Dean’s Distinguished Speaker Seminars, Professor Castro Neto’s lecture delved into the cutting-edge research and revolutionary projects at the NUS Centre for Advanced 2D Materials (CA2DM).
The engaging session, originally scheduled for an hour, extended into a two-hour interactive event as KAUST students and faculty were captivated by Professor Castro Neto’s insights. He shared the philosophy driving CA2DM’s innovations, with a particular focus on graphene-based technologies, including the NanoMolar, a portable medical device that enables fast, non-invasive testing of glucose, lactate, and other biomarkers. This device is one of several groundbreaking innovations to emerge from CA2DM’s many spinoffs over the last decade.
Attendees were treated to a hands-on demonstration of the NanoMolar, making the session even more interactive and insightful. Professor Castro Neto’s approach left a lasting impression, inspiring new ideas and potential collaborations among the audience.
This event was organized by Shadi Fatayer, Professor of Applied Physics at the PSE Division, and was designed to inspire collaboration and knowledge exchange among KAUST’s graduate students, researchers, and faculty.
