Prof. Jens Martin is joining the Graphene Centre
Prof. Jens Martin, currently a Lecturer at the University of Exeter in the U.K. (link), previously at the group of Prof. Amir Yacoby at Harvard University (link), is joining GC starting in September 2012.
Prof. Martin is well-known for his work on graphene. He discovered the so-called “electron-hole puddles” (J. Martin, N. Akerman, G. Ulbricht, T. Lohmann, J. H. Smet, K. von Klitzing, A. Yacoby, “Observation of electron-hole puddles in graphene using a scanning single-electron transistor”, Nature Physics 4, 144-148 (2008)) and has studied extensively the nature of correlated electronic states in graphene bilayers (J. Martin, B. E. Feldman, R. T. Weitz, M. T. Allen, A. Yacoby, “Local Compressibility Measurements of Correlated States in Suspended Bilayer Graphene”, Phys. Rev. Lett 105 256806 (2010)).
Prof. Martin will establish a state-of-the-art local probe laboratory at GC.
Welcome Jens!
