Fuji Electric Malaysia Collaborates with NUS on Graphene Research

The Business Times, among others, reports on the collaboration between the Graphene Research Centre of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Fuji Electric (Malaysia) into using graphene to make a new generation of hard disk drives which can store tens of terabytes of information, versus the current capacity of gigabytes.

It is envisaged that when applied in hard disk drives, graphene has a role of providing a protective layer, allowing for the magnetic heads to approach closer to the hard disks. This brings hard disk drives that can store a much larger amount of data with smaller hard drives.
